Introduction to Technical Report Writing for the completion of the Reporting of Resources and Reserves
This course provides a short introduction to technical reporting in the mining industry and is aimed primarily at junior and graduate professional geoscientists. It will provide delegates with a short history of the development of the various internationally recognised Reporting Codes currently in use in the mining industry, giving an insight into the background governing these regulatory documents. The primary reference materials referred to during the course comprise the most up-to-date official Reporting Code documents, (together with all ancillary supporting documents such as check lists, guidelines, and explanatory notes) used in the public reporting of Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves. The public reporting of these Resources and Reserves is a statutory requirement for Companies wishing to list on any of the recognised stock exchanges or seeking project funding from stakeholders in the public sector.
The example documents provided will demonstrate the generally accepted reporting formats and also address specific areas of concern, where the standard practices employed in the industry are not well understood, or are poorly complied with. Standard formats are necessary, as they allow for better comparison amongst companies across the industry and promote transparency of technical information. These standard formats are required by all stock exchanges, regulatory agencies and financial institutions.
